E-cig News was set up to follow the developments in the electronic cigarette industry world-wide. Links to relevant stories may be submitted by using the submit button in the menu bar. They can be either submitted anonymously or under a username if you choose to create an account. You can also create 'self-posts' by leaving the URL field blank when you submit an item.

Links and comments can be either voted up or down using the arrows on the side of an item. Items which receive the most amount of up-votes in a given time reach the top of the page.

ABOUT ME
I'm known on most of the e-cig forums as DC2k08 and have been using an electronic cigarette since April 2008. I can say that I have mostly quit my 15 year tobacco habit effortlessly by using them and I think I have tested probably in the region of 15-20 different e-cig models while doing so. I keep a stash of 2 litres of e-liquid (in a cool dark escape hatch) so as to deliver myself from any ban that might come into place :)

I keep a eye on information relating to e-cigs and try to keep this site updated with relevant news. Some of you write to me asking what happened to the survey I created in order to gather data on electronic cigarette usage world-wide which unfortunately ended up being sabotaged. Well, a new survey should be up soon hopefully and I'll post it as soon as it's ready.

RULES FOR POSTING
To better enable E-cig News serve as a run-down for the latest developments in the world of electronic cigarettes and not as a link-farm for suppliers or associates to promote their products, I am going to begin enforcing a rule in which no more than one link a week may be submitted to any content that was created by a supplier or a supplier's associate (this includes any site or blog they run or any press release or article they created).

Links will be deleted at my discretion. I don't have an exact set of criteria of what will warrant a deletion, but basically I want to keep spam or any stories that are not relevant off the site.

Generally speaking If I think you submitted an item only as a subterfuge for promoting a site or product whether it is affiliated or your own, or if it's just plain flashing red-light spam then the item will more than likely be deleted.

Any items displaying coupon codes will also be deleted. I have a list of coupon codes for e-cigs already on site and any supplier wanting a coupon code added to the list can write to me directly at: DC at e-cignews.com

To anyone considering using E-cig News as a vehicle for creating back-links to your site, you should be aware that links are set to 'no-follow' by default.

THUMBNAILS
When you submit an item, if an image is available a thumbnail will be generated and will appear alongside the link. You can also control which thumbnail is added yourself by copying and pasting the exact URL of which ever image you would like displayed into the thumbnail field when you submit an item.

Sometimes a thumbnail might not display immediately due to a background process which generates them but they should show up in a little time.

ON TWITTER AND RSS
E-cig News automatically posts items from its popular page to the twitter account twitter/ecignews. There is a time delay though in order to catch spam or irrelevant posts bofore they are posted over there. An RSS feed is available for the Popular and Recent pages and is also available for individual categories if you scroll down to the bottom of the pages.

This is for threads of interest in the forums
General Discussion
This is for any item that does not fit under any other category.
Health & Safety
This is for information relating to the safety of electronic cigarettes. Toxicology reports and tests or any information regarding the ingredients of e-liquid can be submitted here for example.
Media
This is for articles in the press, audio clips, videos or blogs concerning e-cigs.
Regulation
This for information regarding the regulation or banning of e-cigs or related products world-wide.
Reviews
This is for reviews in whatever format. Reviews can also be subitted to the site as self-posts. Reviews must not be plants.
Tobacco/Science
For information regarding tobacco, tobacco companies or science.
